Irish Sailing are running a Safeguarding 1 Course for any club members (volunteers, instructors, coaches, managers and administrators) that would like to get the first step of the "Safeguarding" qualification completed. This course is a Basic Awareness Workshop in Child Welfard and Protection and takes 3 hours. to complete.

Time - 10am to 1 pm (3 hours)

Unfortunately due to weather conditions today racing was cancelled for all fleets. The prizegiving took place in the Clubhouse at 11am before sailors packed up to head home. Event was hugely successful and Commodore Niall O'Neill thanked all club volunteers who made it such a success. Full report can be found here.
Racing is underway on the first day of the CH Marine Laser Munster Championships in Baltimore. PRO David O'Brien advised the saillors at this morning's briefing that the Race Management Team would make every effort to complete 4 races today given tomorrow's weather forecast. The sailors are still on the water but the sun continues to shine.
Many club members may have been involved with Asgard, Creidne or Asgard II over the years. Sail Training Ireland is Ireland's National Sail Training Organisation. It is a charity set up by some of the former board members of the much lamented Coiste an Asgard. Since 2012, they have placed 1,600 trainees aboard training vessels from Ireland and the rest of Europe.
Mary Nolan-Hickey is running a "lap of the map" in aid of the RNLI. Mary is 65 years young and has been involved in athletics for the past 50 years - you can find her blog here. The distance she is running is said to be between 3717 km and 5000 km, no one is quite sure!. She is due to run from Schull to Skibbereen and on to Baltimore on Saturday morning next 24th March. It would be great to give her lots of support on her run.
With only 16 days to the start of the Laser Munsters it is great to see 63 entries and climbing. As expected there are a large number of Master entries in both the Radial and Standard rigs. The early entry discounted rate of €50 is available until March 23rd. The fee then reverts to the full cost of €75 until 9pm on Thursday 29th March. Online entry will then close.
Baltimore Sailing Club is delighted to announce that CH Marine are to sponsor the Laser Munster Championships 2018 to be held in Baltimore on March 31st/April 1st. CH Marine are one of the largest marine equipment suppliers in Ireland and are the official Irish Dealer of Laser Performance.
CH Marine have also confirmed that they will have their Support Van at the event with all Laser essentials on board. However, should you have any specific laser items you require please let the CH Marine Team in Skibbereen know and they will ensure that they are ready for pick up in Baltimore.
Baltimore Sailing Club is delighted to announce that it is to host the National 18ft Class Irish Championships on the weekend of June 2nd and 3rd, 2018.
Boats will travel from around Ireland and the UK to compete in this event. Last year's National Championships were held as part of Cork Dinghy fest in Cork Harbour. The Ultra and Ultimate Fleets will be represented and it is expected to be highly competitive dinghy racing ahead of the UK Championships to be held in mid July in West Mersea Yacht Club. The 1720 National Championships 2018 will be organised by Baltimore Sailing Club in conjunction with the 1720 Class Association and sponsored by Danske Bank from Thursday 30th August to Saturday 1st September, 2018. The event will be held in Baltimore, County Cork.
All roads led to West Cork for the Optimist and 420 sailors starting their mid term breaks on Friday 9th February. The 420 sailors were in Schull and the optimist sailors headed to Baltimore for the week. The week threw all weather conditions at the sailors from snow showers, hail showers, sun and winds ranging from light breeze to 30+ knots. Despite this the organisers, parents, volunteers, coaches and sailors gave it their all. The week concluded last Friday 16th February with the annual regatta for all sailors.

The Club are interested in compiling a list of all members interested in developing their racing knowledge. Those members who wish to assist and contribute to running events by hearing protests and promoting rule observance etc.
Who is your sailor of the Year 2017?
Over the past 12 months - Afloat have picked out 28 individual sailors and pairings who have excelled in their respective disciplines, be it offshore, dinghy, cruise or powerboat.
On Friday, February 9th, the Judging Panel will announce the Sailor the Year at the Irish Sailing Awards to be held in the RDS, Dublin and you can have your say by voting in the poll on the Afloat website.
The Laser Munster Championships 2018 will be hosted by Baltimore Sailing Club on Saturday 31st March and Sunday 1st April. The Club is looking forward to welcoming the laser sailors and families back to Baltimore over Easter again this year. This event is open to all rigs - radial, 4.7 and standard.
This event is the first in the Irish Laser Association 2018 calendar and represents the final chance (along with the Ulster Championships) for Irish sailors to get some ranking points for the Master Worlds which will be held in Dun Laoghaire in September. Qualification information is available here for those interested.
The 1720 European Championships are to be held in Howth Yacht Club from Friday 25th through Sunday 27th May, 2018. The Notice of Race is now available to view or download from the event website www.sportsboatcup.com.
The organisers are expecting to have up to 100 boats racing. Online entry is open here with an early bird discounted rate of €155.
We look forward to welcoming optimist sailors, siblings and parents to Baltimore Sailing Club again this year over the February mid term break. IODAI are hosting their annual Spring Training Week from Sunday 11th to Friday 16th February, 2018.
Baltimore Sailing Club finished off 2017 in the same manner it started - with a wave of activity. December 29th saw members fill Casey's Hotel for the Annual Dinner Dance. Commodore Michael Walsh thanked all the members, volunteers, instructors, assistants and helpers for a wonderful year.
The Baltimore Laser Icicles will take place on Saturday December 2nd 2017.

Adult “Try Sailing” Tasters and Course 2017
Baltimore Sailing Club would like to encourage more adults to participate in its sailing activities. One initiative to support this goal is to further strengthen our adult sailing programmes.
This years Munster Laser Championships (All Rigs) takes place this year on the 15th/16th April, 2017
The event is run by the Irish Laser Asociation.
The first two RS200’s will be in Baltimore at Easter and there will be an information day at the Club where the two boats will be available for viewing, information and possibly sailing.

The 2015 1720 National Championships will be organised by the Baltimore Sailing Club (BSC) in conjunction with the 1720 Sportsboat Class Association from Thursday 18th to Saturday 20th June 2015. The event will be held at Baltimore, Co. Cork.
Club members Emily Whitaker and Conor Horgan are in Malta to compete in the 15th Annual Euromed Championship. They are part of the ISA Optimist Squad who have travelled for the first time to race in this event.
Baltimore Sailing Club, Baltimore, Co. Cork will host a Laser Icicle Event on Saturday and Sunday 6th & 7th December 2014.
On Saturday 20th of September 2014 the inaugural RCYC Inter Club Cup was sailed in Cork. Event organiser Nicholas O’Leary and his team with Race Officer Bryan Hassett set up two parallell race courses with an exclusion zone between the race areas.

Baltimore Sailing Club is organising an afternoon of fun events on land and sea. A rally on the water, a swim, a tug-of-war, finishing with a barbeque and a free glass of wine, prize giving and a raffle !!!
After a week of light winds and a mix of inshore and offshore racing, Ireland’s team of three boats lifted the Brewin Dolphin Commodores’ Cup on Saturday evening last.
Congradulation to Baltimore Sailing Club who won all three cups in the 2014 Marconi Cup Junior Team Racing this year. Winning the Relay Racing, Team Racing and the overall combined Marconi Cup 2014.
The village of Baltimore in West Cork was en fête yesterday (20th July 2014) with the opening of the newly-rebuilt clubhouse for Baltimore Sailing Club by Simon Coveney TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food, the Marine & Defence.
Congratulations to Peter O'Leary, Jouen Jacob and Cathal Cottrell all members of Baltimore Sailing Club who took first place in this years 1720 European Championships. Sailing under the Baltimore Sailing Club Burgee, Peter, Cathal & Youen sailed a blinder for the series which eventually came down to the last race. "Jacobs Bar" also crewed by Jamie Donegan and Andy came out on top for 2014.

Peter O'Leary (BSC) wins Ireland's most prestigious sailing championship, with Young Fionn Lyden (BSC) sailed a magnificent regatta and beat off two Olympians to claim the silver.
The Corona Cork 1720 European Championships were once again sailed out of the beautiful West Cork coastal village of Baltimore from 30th August to 1st September 2012 and were attended by 18 boats from Ireland and the UK,
Two of our Junior sailors do us proud in Irish Laser National Championships. Mark Hassett and Darragh McCormack from Baltimore Sailing club top the fleet in 4.7 and Radial.
Eoin Lyden and Brian Stokes are the new RS Feva Irish National Champions for 2012…. They showed superb seamanship on the Saturday to maintain their high finishing positions despite not having their Gennaker for three of the four races sailed that day.
This year’s 1720 European Challenge Cup, sponsored by Corona Extra, are to be held in Baltimore, West Cork from Aug 30th to 2nd September 2012. This year’s event is set to attract in excess of 25 boats.
George David owner of RAMBLER 100 will be returning to Baltimore Sailing Club on the 29th of July to present in person the winners of the RAMBLER 100 FASNET Youth Racing Team event with the new Trophy which he has commissioned.

The Topaz National Championships were held on the 24th and 25th of September in Baltimore Sailing Club.
Perfect sailing conditions off Sherkin Island today with a steady 12-16 knot breeze provided champagne conditions for Mark Mansfield and Terry English and the crew onboard Gut Rut to secure the championship with a 10 point lead and a race to spare.

The Heir Island Sloops will have their 'World Championships' in Baltimore on the weekend of 25th and 26th June.

This year 'Wednesday Night Club Suppers' booking's will be taken in the club house on Saturday afternoons onward - after Saturday Sailing and Prize Giving.
The Bank Holiday Weekend of the 23rd and 24th of April saw the Munster Laser Championships visit Baltimore Sailing Club. The event was a great success again this year, with 152 boats competing in the two day event.
The Annual sponsored walk in aid of the RNLI took place on Easter Monday starting at 14:00 in the square. Over 90 people took part and once again raised alot of money for this important cause.
The Catalogues Cup runs from Sunday 1st May up to 26th June. This weekly sailing event is open to everyone, so even if you are just in Baltimore on an occasional weekend, you are welcome to join in.
